I started to build this business in the Spring of 2010. Tex's Stables was named after my first horse I had as a child, that taught me far more about life than just riding. I would like to continue to share my experiences and interests with others. I have been around horses most of my life. I showed for the Western Michigan Equestrian Team, and at a variety of open shows. Although I love showing, my true love is taking my horses out for a trail ride or a weekend camping trip.
While attending Western Michigan University, I received my Bachelors of Arts Degree in Sociology. I first started teaching riding lessons and assisting with Horsemanship Day Camps in college to pay for my room, board, and of course my horses board. Sweetheart and Keoni both went to college with me, and very little separates me from my horses. It was during this time that I also volunteered at the Cheff Therapuetic Riding Center.
I am currently the Residential Coordinator at Sunny Crest Youth Ranch, a residential treatment facility for adolescent boys, as well as the Animal Programs Coordinator. I have worked at Ionia County Intermediate School District as a healthcare aide that works with children who have Autism. Prior to this I was a Case Manager through Hope Network Behavioral Health working with Adults with Developmental Disabilities and Mental Illness. In addition to this I am a 4-H Horse Leader through Michigan State Extension Office for Barry County.
I am graduating from Liberty University with my Masters to become a Licensed Professional Counselor, this Spring. In addition to this, I am a PATH Certified Registered Riding Instructor. This has not only help me to become a better riding instructor for all kids, but also allows me to be more qualified in providing Equine Assisted Therapy as well.
I am very eager and ambitious to start working with you and your children.
